This tour is back on popular demand. It’s eight riding days where we ride from Hofsós to Saudarkrókur, Njalsstadir, Thingeyrar, Hof, Galtará, Varmilaekur and back again. Good accomodation in breathtaking spots along the trail.
THE SILVER CIRCLE 4 – 12 July 2019
Price: 26 500 SEK. Transfer from Keflavik/Reykjavik (BSI) – Hofsós and return is included in the price, accomodation (shower and WC available), dinner every night. Maximum 15 participants.
4 July: Pick up at 10:00 am from Keflavik Airport, or from BSI Coach Station in Reykjavik approx 11:00 am for transfer to Hofsós, arrival 17:30 pm. Dinner at 18:30 pm at Jóhann and Elsa’s house, with a short presentation of the week to come.
5 July: We leave Hofsós on horseback around 10:00 am, heading for Saudarkrókur, 40 km. We ride with a herd of about 60-70 free running horses. When we stop for lunch we will be met by a car, so we don’t need to carry food and bags ourselves. At the end of the day we will ride along a beach. We leave our horses in Saudarkrókur, and are taken back to Hofsós. If you want you can have a swim in the beautiful swimmingpool before dinner.
6 July: We are picked up around 9:00 am for another day with our horses. Today we ride from Saudarkrókur to Njálsstadir, about 40 km over Thverárfjall. We leave the horses here overnight, and go back to Hofsós.
7 July: Today we ride from Njálsstadir to Thingeyrar, 45 km. We follow a beautiful trail along the sea through Blönduós, west over Húnavatn to Thingeyrar. Here we leave the horses to graze, and are taken to the beautiful farm Hof in Vatnsdal where we have dinner and stay for the night.
8 July: We go back to our horses, and then take them 25 km to Hof again – over the mountains and into the valleys.
9 July: Today is our longest day, we ride almost 60 km. You will be riding at least three horses during this day. This is really the inner highlands of Iceland, totally unspoilt landscape. Tonights camp is in Galtaráskála where we stay for the night in a simple but fully equipped cottage.
10 July: We leave Galtará and head for Maelifellsdalur in Skagafjördur, 45 km. This will be another day full of exciting new experiences and riding through breathtaking landscape. We leave our horses close to Varmalaek and are taken back to our base camp in Hofsós.
11 July: We leave Hofsós around 9:00 am for our final riding day. Today we will take the horses back to Hofsós, 55 km. Then it is time to say goodbye to the horses, have a final farewell dinner together and sum up our week.
12 July. We leave Hofsós at 8:00 am, and head for Keflavik/Reykjavik. We aim to be at Keflavik Airport in time for flights departing after 16:00 pm.
